Properties
The active ingredient of Amertil Bio is cetirizine dihydrochloride. Amertil Bio is a medication for allergies.
Indications
Amertil Bio is indicated for adults and children from 6 years of age: for the relief of symptoms in the nose and eyes associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as for the relief of symptoms of urticaria.
Active ingredient: cetirizine dihydrochloride.
Composition
The active ingredient of Amertil Bio is cetirizine dihydrochloride. One film-coated tablet contains 10 mg cetirizine dihydrochloride.
Other ingredients are: tablet core: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, gelatinized starch, crospovidone (type A), magnesium stearate; coating: hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), and macrogol 400.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The tablets should be taken with a glass of liquid. The tablet can be divided into two equal doses.
Adults and adolescents over 12 years: 10 mg (1 tablet) once daily.
Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1 tablet (5 mg) twice daily.
Patients with renal impairment
For patients with moderate renal impairment, a dosage of 5 mg once daily is recommended.
If you have severe kidney disease, please consult your doctor, who will adjust the dose accordingly.
If your child has severe kidney disease, please consult your doctor, who will adjust the dose to your child’s needs.
If you feel that the effect of Amertil Bio is too strong or too weak, please consult your doctor.
Taking more than the recommended dose of Amertil Bio
If you have taken more than the recommended dose of Amertil Bio, contact your doctor immediately. The doctor will decide if and what measures need to be taken.
After an overdose, the side effects described below may occur more intensely. The following side effects have been reported: confusion, diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, headache, malaise, dilated pupils, itching, restlessness, sedation, drowsiness, stupor, rapid heartbeat, tremor, urinary retention.
Use of the medicine in children and adolescents
The use of Amertil Bio in children under 6 years is not recommended. Consult your doctor, who will determine the appropriate cetirizine dose and dosage form (e.g., oral drops or oral solution) for your child.
