Areas of Application
Octenisept is a disinfectant for the disinfection of wounds, skin, and mucous membranes.
Properties
The preparation contains two active ingredients: octenidine and phenoxyethanol. It is bactericidal, fungicidal, protozoicidal, and virucidal. Octenisept is widely used in dentistry, gynecology and obstetrics, proctology, urology, dermatology, geriatrics, and venereology. It is used before andrological and gynecological (intravaginal) examinations, for the treatment of perianal abscesses and infected surgical wounds, during catheterizations, before interventions on the urinary tract, and before in vitro fertilizations. Octenisept is also used in the oral cavity, for example, for the treatment of aphthae or after tooth extractions. The medication has a strong disinfecting effect and supports the treatment of fungal infections, cell necrosis, and viral infections. Octenisept is most commonly used for skin disinfection before surgeries, for postoperative wound care, in perinatal medicine, for dressing changes, for the disinfection of burns, and for the treatment of ulcers. Applying a gauze soaked with Octenisept to the wound leads to the detachment of necrotic tissue and thus significantly shortens the healing time.
Instructions for Use
Octenisept should be used undiluted.
