Effect
Essential oils penetrate the body in different ways. They are primarily absorbed through the respiratory tract, but also enter the bloodstream through the skin. When oils are absorbed through the respiratory tract, the nasal mucous membranes are initially stimulated and information about the presence of a specific essential oil molecule is transmitted to the brain. The brain then releases the corresponding chemical compounds to stimulate or relax the nervous system. The chemical compounds contained in the oils have a direct effect on the body, as they enter the lungs and produce specific therapeutic effects in the body. The absorption of oils directly through the skin is local; the molecules of the substance penetrate through the epidermis into the dermis. The dermis is a highly vascularized organ and enables the penetration of chemical compounds through the capillaries into the entire bloodstream.Dosage
