Properties
RUBITAL is a traditional herbal medicine for the relief of irritation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, as well as the associated dry cough. It contains an aqueous extract (macerate) of marshmallow root.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as instructed in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use this product for longer than one week. If symptoms persist for more than one week during use, consult your doctor. This medicine is intended for oral use. The syrup should be taken with the enclosed measuring cup. Children aged 1–3 years: 2.5 ml as directed by your doctor, repeat the dose up to four times daily depending on the severity of the irritation. Children aged 3–6 years: 5 ml up to four times daily. Children aged 6–12 years: 5 ml up to five times daily. Adolescents over 12 years and adults: 10 ml, repeat 3 to 5 times daily as needed.
Effect
The syrup contains an aqueous extract (macerate) of marshmallow root, which is traditionally applied as a protective agent to the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat and relieves irritation symptoms. This application is based on the content of plant mucilage in the marshmallow root and its viscosity. The mucilage forms colloidal solutions that coat the mucous membrane with a thin film and thus protect it. In addition, the mucilage has a protective effect on the irritated throat mucosa and relieves the urge to cough.
