Composition
Active ingredient: 100 g of the preparation contain 10 g hydrogen peroxide 30%. Excipients: disodium edetate, poloxamer 407, 96% ethanol, concentrated phosphoric acid, purified water.
Indications
For the disinfection of wounds, abrasions, and skin grazes.
Effect
Hydrogen peroxide decomposes under the influence of enzymes present in tissue and many bacteria into water and reactive oxygen. This reaction occurs rapidly, among other things, in the presence of blood. The released oxygen forms foam and removes microorganisms from the disinfected area, destroys blood cells escaping from the wound as well as cells exposed by skin injuries, and mechanically cleans tissue debris. The gel acts bactericidally against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria within 1 minute. Peroxygel 3.0 acts fungicidally against pathogenic yeasts, especially Candida albicans, and other fungi.
Application
Apply 0.5–1 cm of gel directly to the wound, abrasion, or scratch. After drying, it forms a protective membrane. The product is thermoreversible. It is liquid at temperatures below 20 °C and above 45 °C. When applied to the skin, it solidifies into a gel.
