Properties
The medical product Atrauman Ag is a sterile mesh dressing with metallic silver, impregnated with an ointment based on plant fatty acids.
Effect
When in contact with a moist wound environment, silver molecules are released from the dressing, which have a bactericidal effect (against gram-negative bacteria such as Klebsiella pneumoniae and gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus as well as MRSA strains). The triglyceride ointment cares for the wound edges and maintains their elasticity. The dressing is non-adherent, allows wound exudate to drain, and ensures good wound ventilation and oxygen supply. The microbiological effect of the product lasts for at least 7 days.
Indications
The Atrauman Ag dressing is indicated for the supportive treatment of infected wounds (chronic and acute) and as an additional measure for infection prophylaxis during wound therapy.
Application
1. Remove the dressing from the packaging.
2. Peel off the protective film from one side and apply the dressing to the wound.
3. Remove the protective film from the other side.
4. To absorb excess exudate, apply an additional sterile wound dressing.
5. Unless otherwise directed by a physician, the dressing can be changed at each dressing change.
If the exudate is viscous, it is recommended to cut the Atrauman Ag dressing to prevent wound congestion.
