Vitamin B6 Teva is a medicine that contains vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), which, when converted into its active form, pyridoxal phosphate, is involved in many carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolic processes. In addition, it influences the function of the nervous system, the hematopoietic system, the immune system, and the normal function of the skin. Vitamin B6 eliminates the neuromuscular disorders associated with its deficiency. It facilitates the absorption of vitamin B12, iron, and magnesium.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is taken orally, usually as follows. Adults: therapeutically: usually 50 to 100 mg 3 times daily.
Prevention of peripheral neuropathies during isoniazid use: 50 mg per day.
Prevention of sunburn and pigmented skin lesions after burns: 150 to 200 mg once daily or in divided doses.
Metabolic disorders: up to 450 mg per day in 3 divided doses.
Radiation sickness: 50 to 100 mg per day;
As an adjunct in the treatment of insomnia and vegetative neurosis: 50 mg to 300 mg daily, in divided doses.
Effect
Influences the functions of the nervous system, the hematopoietic system, the immune system, as well as normal skin functions. It eliminates neuromuscular disorders associated with a deficiency, and at higher doses (up to 300 mg per day) has a central effect (calming and even sleep-inducing). It alleviates nausea and vomiting. Facilitates the absorption of vitamin B12, iron, and magnesium. The active form of vitamin B6 (pyridoxal phosphate) is involved in the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.
