Properties
Naproxen has pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing effects. It affects the cyclooxygenase enzyme system, inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and prostaglandin transport, inhibits lysosomal activity, and stabilizes lysosomal membranes. It inhibits interleukin-1, normalizes glycosaminoglycan production, and neutralizes free radicals. When applied as a gel to the skin, it acts locally.
Application
The preparation should be used as directed by a physician. Unless otherwise prescribed, the following dosage should be observed: Apply the preparation in an amount corresponding to the size of the painful area (usually a gel strip about 4 cm wide) to clean, dry skin, spread it evenly, and massage it in gently until fully absorbed.
