Areas of application
As adjunct therapy for acute infections of the mouth and throat: tonsillitis, gingivitis, inflammation of the oral mucosa, as well as after tonsil removal and tooth extraction.
Effect
Acts bacteriostatically (inhibits bacterial growth) against certain types of bacteria such as streptococci (hemolytic, viridans streptococci) and pneumococci, which frequently cause mouth and throat infections. It has moderate effect against staphylococci.
Dosage
Slowly suck 3 to 5 tablets daily over 3 to 4 days. The tablets do not need to be swallowed, but should dissolve slowly in the mouth. Take the tablets shortly after eating (15–30 minutes). Do not eat or drink for 2–3 hours after taking them.
Composition
One lozenge contains 10 mg ambazon as active ingredient as well as the following excipients: sucrose, lactose, cocoa, povidone K30, stearic acid, and vanillin.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ambazon or any of the other ingredients.
