Properties
Tantum Rosa, a powder for the preparation of a vaginal solution, is intended for use on the mucous membrane of the external genital organs and in the vagina. The active ingredient is benzydamine, a non-steroidal anti-rheumatic drug (NSAID). Benzydamine has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects, as well as local disinfectant and anesthetic properties. Thanks to its good bioavailability, the active ingredient reaches high concentrations in the inflamed tissue and thus alleviates symptoms.
Indications
Tantum Rosa is used for redness, burning, itching, pain, and swelling in the genital and vaginal area, as well as for vaginal discharge. These symptoms typically occur in connection with vaginitis and vulvitis, as well as cervicitis of various causes (including infectious and mechanical irritation). They may also occur in patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Tantum Rosa has pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects. Its active ingredient, benzydamine, a non-steroidal anti-rheumatic drug (NSAID), also has a local disinfectant and anesthetic effect. Tantum Rosa can also be used for pre- and postoperative gynecological prophylaxis as well as for the relief of symptoms during the postpartum period.
Application
It is recommended to use Tantum Rosa according to the package leaflet, unless your doctor has prescribed a different dosage. The usual dose is 1–2 sachets of Tantum Rosa per day. The dose can be adjusted depending on the severity of the symptoms. To prepare the solution, dissolve the contents of one sachet of Tantum Rosa in ½ liter of water. The water should be boiled and cooled before use. Prepare the solution immediately before use and use one sachet for each application (1–2 times daily, e.g., morning and evening). For symptoms indicating inflammation of the external genital organs (vulva and perineum) in connection with vaginal or cervical inflammation, it is recommended to rinse the vagina 1–2 times daily with the prepared Tantum Rosa solution. Use a vaginal douche and follow the instructions for use. For symptoms indicating inflammation of the external genital organs (vulva and perineum), or for postpartum complaints in the perineal area, it is recommended to rinse the perineum and vulva 1–2 times daily with the prepared Tantum Rosa solution. For pre- and postoperative gynecological prophylaxis, your doctor will determine the recommended dosage. When using Tantum Rosa independently, the therapy should last at least 3 and no more than 7 days.
