Areas of ApplicationThis medicine is used for the symptomatic relief of pain associated with inflammation or irritation in the oral cavity and throat. – Hypersensitivity to any of the active substances, other local anesthetics of the amide type, or any of the other ingredients. Do not use in children under 30 months.
Side EffectsIn rare cases, allergic reactions of the skin and mucous membranes (rash, stomatitis) may occur. Taste disturbances, burning sensation on the tongue, or anaphylactic reactions are possible. Prolonged use of chlorhexidine may cause a brownish discoloration of the teeth. This discoloration can be removed.
InteractionsDue to possible interactions, the use of antiseptics should be avoided. The combination of local anesthetics and cholinesterase inhibitors should be avoided. Lidocaine hydrochloride may increase methemoglobin levels in patients who are also taking other medicines that affect methemoglobin formation, such as sulfonamides. Cimetidine, beta-blockers, noradrenaline, and inhalation anesthetics inhibit lidocaine metabolism by reducing liver blood flow, leading to increased serum concentrations of the active substance. Barbiturates, rifampicin, and phenytoin accelerate lidocaine metabolism by activating microsomal liver enzymes. Lidocaine enhances the effect of muscle relaxants.
DosageAdults and children from 12 years: 3 to 5 single doses, 6 to 10 times daily. For short-term symptomatic use: 3 to 4 days.

Precautions- Disinfectants are not sterile: they temporarily reduce the number of microorganisms in the mouth and throat.
- Use this product only if relief of pain and irritation is absolutely necessary. It is not suitable for long-term use. Do not use in consecutive doses.
- Avoid use in people with a particular tendency to allergies.
- Gardimax Medica Spray contains 42.5% alcohol by volume, 168 mg per 5 doses. This corresponds to 0.85 ml of beer or 0.35 ml of wine per dose.
- 10 ml Gardimax Medica Spray (oral spray) contains 3.5 g of alcohol. This is harmful for alcoholics. Also consider this for pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, and at-risk patients, e.g., with liver disease or epilepsy.
- Due to reduced heat sensitivity, there is a risk of excessive loss of sensitivity in the glottis. This can lead to reduced control of the swallowing reflex and an increased risk of aspiration.
- The product is sugar-free and can be used by diabetics.
