Properties
Bisacodyl VP is a medicine in the form of enteric-coated tablets with laxative and carminative effects.
Dosage
Always take this medicine exactly as instructed in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you have any questions, please contact your doctor or pharmacist. Adults and children over 10 years: take 1–2 tablets in the evening. Children aged 4–10 years: take 1 tablet in the evening. No dose adjustment is necessary for elderly people or patients with kidney or liver dysfunction. The tablet should be swallowed whole with plenty of water.
Effect
Bisacodyl VP acts as a laxative and carminative directly in the large intestine. By affecting the nerves in the intestinal wall, it increases intestinal contractions and stimulates peristalsis. The medicine also increases the amount of unabsorbed water and electrolytes in the large intestine, thereby enhancing its laxative effect.
Indications
Bisacodyl VP is used as needed for the treatment of constipation of various causes: habitual and chronic constipation in bedridden patients, habitual constipation in elderly people, constipation after dietary changes, and postoperative constipation. It is also recommended for bowel evacuation before diagnostic examinations and surgical procedures.
