Properties
Excedrin MigraStop pain reliever contains three active ingredients: acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, and caffeine. Acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol relieve pain and fever; acetylsalicylic acid also has anti-inflammatory effects. Caffeine is a mild stimulant and enhances the effects of acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol. Excedrin MigraStop is used for the acute treatment of headaches and migraines (with symptoms such as headache, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound, and impairment in daily life) with or without aura.
Dosage
Excedrin MigraStop should be taken according to the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults (over 18 years)
Treatment of headaches: Take one tablet with a full glass of water when you have a headache. If needed, another tablet can be taken 4–6 hours after the first dose. For more severe headaches, two tablets can be taken at once. If needed, another two tablets can be taken 4–6 hours after the first dose. Do not use Excedrin MigraStop for more than 4 days for headaches without consulting a doctor. Migraine treatment: At the onset of migraine symptoms or aura, take two tablets with a glass of water. If needed, take another two tablets, allowing 4–6 hours between doses. Do not use Excedrin MigraStop for more than 3 days for migraines without consulting a doctor. For both headaches and migraines, do not take more than 6 tablets within 24 hours. This corresponds to a dose of 1500 mg acetylsalicylic acid, 1500 mg paracetamol, and 390 mg caffeine. Long-term use without medical supervision can be harmful to your health.
Children and Adolescents
Excedrin MigraStop must not be used by children and adolescents under 18 years of age (see warnings and precautions).
Elderly Patients
There are no specific dosage recommendations for older adults. If you are in this age group and have a low body weight, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Patients with Kidney or Liver Dysfunction
Inform your doctor if you have a liver or kidney disease. Your doctor may recommend different dosing intervals or a different duration of treatment with Excedrin MigraStop than recommended. Excedrin MigraStop must not be used if you have severe kidney or liver dysfunction.
Overdose of Excedrin MigraStop
This medicine contains acetylsalicylic acid and paracetamol. Do not exceed the recommended dose while taking Excedrin MigraStop and do not take any other medicines containing any of the ingredients of this medicine, or other medicines for the treatment of pain, inflammation, or fever (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
