Effect
Vitamin C is involved in the metabolic processes of cells, such as cellular respiration. It is essential for the formation of collagen, elastin, and the extracellular matrix, and thus for the healthy development of cartilage, bones, and teeth, wound healing, and the improvement of capillary elasticity. It influences the formation of immune cells (probably involved in the production of immunoglobulins and interferon) and promotes iron absorption in the intestine. It is essential for the synthesis of adrenal cortex steroids, catecholamines, and insulin, and is involved in the metabolism of aromatic amino acids and thyroxine.
Indications
Juvit C oral drops are used for the treatment of vitamin C deficiency and for the prevention of diseases caused by vitamin C deficiency, especially scurvy and its precursors as well as Möller-Barlow disease, during convalescence, in cases of vitamin C-poor diet, and especially in infants who are fed with infant formula.
