Characteristics
Herpex is a topical medicine in the form of a cream for the treatment of skin infections caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2 as well as varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Herpex is available without a prescription.
Composition
The active ingredient of the cream is aciclovir. 1 g of the antiviral cream contains 50 mg aciclovir. Other ingredients: macrogolglyceride stearate, dimethicone 350, cetyl alcohol, white petrolatum, liquid paraffin, propylene glycol, and purified water.
Effect
Herpex cream contains the active ingredient aciclovir, an antiviral medication with strong efficacy against herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2 as well as varicella-zoster virus (VZV). When applied externally to small areas of skin, Herpex has no systemic side effects.
Indications
Herpex is an antiviral cream for external use in children and adults for the treatment of skin infections (cold sores and genital herpes) caused by herpes simplex viruses types 1 and 2. It can also be used for the external treatment of chickenpox.
