Description
Daktarin® powder is an antifungal for use as an aerosol. It relieves itching caused by yeasts and dermatophytes and is used, among other things, for athlete’s foot (interdigital mycosis). The powder sprayed onto the skin contains miconazole, an active ingredient that is also effective against gram-positive rods and cocci.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. The powder is intended for external use. Shake before use. The treatment duration is usually 2–6 weeks. After symptoms subside, treatment should be continued for at least 1 week. Spray the powder onto the affected area twice daily. Daktarin® is also used preventively and applied once daily to socks and shoes. If Daktarin® cream and powder are used at the same time, it is recommended to use both forms once daily.
Mode of Action
Daktarin contains miconazole, an antifungal derived from imidazole. It acts, among other things, against yeasts and dermatophytes and also shows antibacterial activity against gram-positive rods and cocci. Miconazole attacks the cell membrane and leads to the death of the fungal cells.
