Indications
Coronary heart disease and all clinical situations in which inhibition of platelet aggregation is indicated;
Heart attack prevention in high-risk patients;
previous or suspected heart attack;
unstable angina pectoris;
secondary prevention in patients with a history of heart attack;
after coronary bypass surgery or coronary angioplasty;
prevention of transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and ischemic stroke in patients with TIA;
after ischemic stroke in patients with TIA;
in patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease;
prevention of coronary thrombosis in patients with multiple risk factors;
prevention of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients with prolonged immobilization, e.g. after major surgery, as a supplement to other preventive measures.
Dosage
Oral administration. The enteric-coated tablet of Acard is coated so that it does not dissolve in the stomach. This reduces the irritating effect of acetylsalicylic acid on the gastric mucosa. The enteric-coated tablet should be swallowed whole after a meal.
Note: In the case of a recent or suspected heart attack, enteric-coated tablets can be used if uncoated acetylsalicylic acid tablets are not available. In this case, the enteric-coated tablets must be chewed thoroughly to ensure rapid absorption. Prevention of heart attacks in at-risk patients: Usually one enteric-coated tablet (75 mg) daily. In the case of a recent or suspected heart attack: Four enteric-coated tablets (300 mg) at once. The enteric-coated tablets must be chewed thoroughly to ensure rapid absorption! Unstable angina pectoris, secondary prevention in patients after myocardial infarction: Usually 1 enteric-coated tablet (75 mg) daily. After coronary bypass surgery, coronary angioplasty: Usually 1 enteric-coated tablet (75 mg) daily. Prevention of transient ischemic attacks (TIA) and ischemic stroke in patients with TIA: Usually 1 enteric-coated tablet (75 mg) daily. After ischemic stroke in patients with TIA: 1 enteric-coated tablet (75 mg) daily. In patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease: Usually 1 enteric-coated tablet (75 mg) daily. Prevention of coronary thrombosis in patients with multiple risk factors: Recommended daily dose: 1 to 2 enteric-coated tablets (75 mg to 150 mg). For the prevention of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism in patients with prolonged immobilization, e.g. after major surgery, in addition to other preventive measures: 1 to 2 enteric-coated tablets (75 mg to 150 mg) daily.
Composition
One enteric-coated tablet contains 75 mg acetylsalicylic acid.
