Composition
One hard capsule contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride and excipients.
Indications
Stoperan can be used by adults, elderly patients, and children from 6 years of age.
The medicine can be taken by people suffering from both acute and chronic forms of diarrheal diseases. Stoperan contains the most versatile active ingredient against diarrheal diseases. It helps with many types of infectious diarrhea, including the so-called stomach flu caused by viruses.
Stoperan also achieves a therapeutic effect in diarrhea where other over-the-counter medicines do not help:
- in food allergies,
- lactose and gluten intolerance,
- in stress-induced diarrhea,
- in diarrhea caused by irritable bowel syndrome (IBS),
- and even in diarrhea associated with diabetes.
Stoperan can also be used by patients treating chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and others, as it does not affect the absorption and effectiveness of medications taken at the same time. For this reason, Stoperan is also a good choice for women using contraception.
Effect
The effect of Stoperan occurs within one hour after administration.
The active ingredient binds to receptors on the surface of the intestine, calms intestinal peristalsis, and reduces the need for immediate bowel movements. It also accelerates water absorption from the colon, which improves stool consistency and prevents dehydration.
Stoperan does not irritate the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, is gentle on the stomach, and does not affect the intestinal flora.
The medicine is almost completely metabolized in the liver and excreted from the body with bile.
Dosage
Dosage instructions: Acute diarrhea - adults and children from 12 years: First dose: 2 capsules.
Subsequent doses: 1 capsule after each loose stool, maximum daily dose - 8 capsules.
Acute diarrhea - children from 6 to 12 years: 1 capsule after each loose stool, maximum daily dose 3 capsules.
Chronic diarrhea - adults and children from 12 years: initially 1 capsule twice daily, if needed 1 capsule 4-6 times daily, maximum daily dose 6 capsules.
Chronic diarrhea - children from 9 to 12 years: 1 capsule after each loose stool, maximum daily dose 3 capsules.
Chronic diarrhea - children from 6 to 9 years: 1 capsule after each loose stool, maximum daily dose 2 capsules.
