Properties
Enterol 250 in sachets is an oral antidiarrheal. Its active ingredient is the freeze-dried yeast Saccharomyces boulardii, which is classified as a probiotic. A balanced intestinal flora is essential for important gastrointestinal functions such as digestion, infection defense, and strengthening of natural immunity. Enterol 250 acts on the intestinal flora and serves as a substitute for the natural intestinal flora to compensate for a temporary imbalance.
Indications
Enterol 250 is used for: treatment of acute infectious diarrhea; prevention of antibiotic-associated diarrhea; in recurrent diarrhea due to Clostridium difficile infection, as an adjunct to vancomycin or metronidazole; prevention of diarrhea associated with enteral nutrition; and prevention of traveler's diarrhea.

The recommended dosage for adults and children is listed below.
Acute infectious diarrhea: 1 to 2 sachets daily for up to 1 week. Antibiotic-associated diarrhea: 1 to 2 sachets daily during and after antibiotic therapy. For children: Mix the contents of the sachet with the child's food. The mixture should not be too hot. For enteral nutrition: The medication is added to the preparation of the nutrient solution.
Due to the risk of airborne infection, sachets and capsules must not be opened in patient rooms. Medical staff must wear gloves when handling probiotics for administration to patients. The probiotics must then be disposed of immediately and hands thoroughly washed.
