PropertiesMaalox is a medicine for the symptomatic treatment of heartburn, hyperacidity, and gastritis.
CompositionThe active ingredients are: aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide.
1 tablet contains 400 mg aluminum hydroxide and 400 mg magnesium hydroxide.
Excipients: mannitol, sorbitol, sodium saccharin, mint flavor, magnesium stearate, sucrose (3% starch), sucrose.
1 tablet contains 150 mg sucrose.
DosageAlways take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
1–2 tablets should be sucked or chewed after a meal or when in pain.
EffectMaalox has an acid-neutralizing, astringent effect and protects the mucous membranes of the stomach and duodenum. Maalox does not directly affect gastric acid secretion. It reduces the acid concentration in the esophagus.
