PropertiesMaalox is a medicine for the symptomatic treatment of complaints in the upper gastrointestinal tract associated with hyperacidity.
CompositionThe active ingredients are: aluminum hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide.
100 ml suspension contain 3.5 g aluminum hydroxide and 4.0 g magnesium hydroxide.
Other ingredients: diluted hydrochloric acid, anhydrous citric acid, peppermint oil, mannitol, domiphen bromide, sodium saccharin, sorbitol 70%, hydrogen peroxide 30%, purified water.
DosageAlways take this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. For oral use; shake before use. Take 1 tablespoon (10 ml) 90 minutes after a meal or when in pain. Maximum daily dose: 140 ml suspension.
EffectMaalox acts locally in the stomach to inhibit acid, is astringent, and protects the gastric and duodenal mucosa. It does not cause secondary stimulation of hydrochloric acid secretion or excessive neutralization of stomach contents.
