- The medicinal product Vitamin C 1000 Pliva contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Since the human body does not produce vitamin C itself, it must be regularly supplied through food. Vitamin C is necessary for the smooth functioning of the body. It has antioxidant properties and is involved in many metabolic processes, including the production of collagen, intercellular substance, hormones, and iron absorption in the gastrointestinal tract.
DosageAdults and adolescents from 12 years: unless otherwise recommended by a doctor, usually one effervescent tablet per day is used. Dissolve one Vitamin C 1000 Pliva effervescent tablet in a glass of water (200 ml) and drink the freshly prepared solution. Symptoms of overdose may include: nausea or vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea, headache, hot flashes or skin redness, mild diuretic effect. Vitamin C poisoning can occur especially when very small amounts of urine are excreted or when urinary retention occurs in the context of kidney disease.
ContraindicationsThe medicinal product must not be used: in case of hypersensitivity to vitamin C or any of the components of the medicinal product, in case of kidney stones (oxalate stones), in disorders of iron metabolism, in children under 12 years, in patients with phenylketonuria (due to the aspartame content). The medicinal product may distort the results of some laboratory tests performed with redox methods (e.g. for glucose in urine or occult blood in stool). Note for patients on a low-sodium diet: one tablet contains 227.8 mg sodium. Use in pregnant women is not recommended, as vitamin C crosses the placental barrier. Taking high doses of the medicinal product (over 2 g) by pregnant women may cause scurvy symptoms in the newborn. It is not recommended to use the medicine during breastfeeding, as it passes into breast milk. The medicine has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate moving machinery.
