Hirudoid is a medicinal product for use in cases of trauma (with or without hematomas) and phlebitis.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. This medicine is intended for external use on the skin. Apply 3 to 5 cm of ointment to the affected area 2 to 3 times daily (or more frequently if needed). Massage the ointment into the skin; in case of painful inflammation, spread the ointment evenly. For blunt injuries, the treatment duration is usually up to 10 days; for superficial phlebitis, 1 to 2 weeks. Hirudoid ointment can also be used for iontophoresis.
Composition
The active ingredient is mucopolysaccharide polysulfate (mucopolysaccharidum polysulfatum). 100 g of ointment contain 0.3 g mucopolysaccharide polysulfate, equivalent to 25,000 IU. The units were determined based on the APTT. Excipients: Glycerin 85%, methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, stearic acid, ointment base with lanolin alcohols, emulsifier cetostearyl alcohol, myristyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol, potassium hydroxide, thymol, purified water.
